In collaboration with this season’s København Danser performances, each company will provide the Copenhagen dance community with a workshop while they are in our city!
Our second show of the season is Sonoma by Marcos Morau and his ensemble, La Veronal.
The workshop will be taught by company member Marina Rodrigues. It proposes an introduction to La Veronal’s imaginary and particular body language, based on the development of a personal technique that starts from different references to dissect, distort, and pervert the logic of movement.
The different proposals we will work on are based on being able to create, improvise, and learn small cells of both geometric and theatrical movement, as well as giving participants a new way to immerse themselves in the Veronal universe to continue discovering within themselves the infinite ways of moving and expressing with the body, music, and space.
Come see Sonoma at Østre Gasværk May 28 – 30!

The Trio from La Bayadère is a great example of classical ballet repertoire. The elegance and weightless flow of this piece perfectly combine the precision of academic ballet technique and the expressive, romantic essence of the art form.
In theatres, the Trio from La Bayadère is typically performed by first and second soloists. However, despite its technical demands, the choreography is created through fundamental elements practiced in every ballet class.
This workshop is open to all dancers with foundational basic ballet experience!
In this in-depth workshop, you will be presented with the opportunity to develop an even greater understanding of your body’s endless potential. Together, we will explore movement and new ways to understand ourselves. Throughout the classes, you will experience a multitude of improvisational methods, images, and games. Each harmoniously enriching your understanding of body and mind, as well as nourishing your movement language. This room allows you to feel safe, practice failure, and connect with yourself and others. Previous dance experience is recommended but not required.

Each day will build upon the last, ensuring that each dancer leaves the week feeling more confident and secure in their skills. Susanne provides a fun and light environment where everyone can feel comfortable wherever they are at in their practice, and 4 days together will surely create a strong foundation to build upon.

In this week-long workshop, we will be working in depth on floorwork technique by practicing elements that focus on our relationship with the floor. we will work with sliding, rolling, crawling, jumping, and running, challenge verticality, and experiment with new movement patterns.
Each session will start with a warm-up followed by floorwork elements, which will be integrated into dance phrases inspired by ‘flying low technique.’ Throughout the week, we will build on our skills and explore how we can combine qualities of softness and precision, as we smoothly transition and dance through the different levels (i.e. floor, mid-level, standing). Once we become familiar with the patterns, we will work with different speeds, directions in space, add movement complexity and introduce soft acrobatics elements. Additionally, to the technical work, we will keep our joy of moving and dancing together!
The workshop is open to people at an intermediate level and for those with basic contemporary dance experience. While participants should be familiar with basic movements and transitions between standing and floor-based work, the class will also be adapted to accommodate and support the range of skills level.
It is recommended to bring long pants & a long sleeved shirt for protecting the skin when sliding / working with the floor.
The Esmeralda Variation is an expressive piece from the classical ballet repertoire. It’s full of charm and personality, and a great way to explore timing, musicality, and character.
Working on this variation will help you strengthen your balance, extensions, pirouettes, and artistry—while also giving you a chance to have fun with storytelling and stage presence. Whether you’re preparing for an audition, a performance, or just looking to try something new, it’s a rewarding piece to add to your repertoire!
This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced dancers.
